This garden gives a classic white weatherboard home an outdoor room for every part of the day. A patterned tile terrace sits at the back step, a louvred pergola shelters a timber deck with sandstone seat walls, and the far corner stays open as a level lawn for the kids.

Dining at the back step

A patterned tile terrace runs along the back of the house, wide enough for a long table under the striped awning. Potted bays and climbing greenery soften the white weatherboard, and low garden lighting keeps the space usable long after sunset.

Under the pergola

Steps lead down to a timber deck beneath a louvred pergola. Sandstone seat walls carry pots and planting, with downlights washing the walls at dusk. It's the quiet end of the garden, set up for lounging rather than dining.

Room to play

The far corner is left simple: a level lawn with a swing set, backed by layered garden beds that screen the neighbours. Hydrangeas and annual colour carry the borders through summer.

Steps to the lawn

Sandstone steps rise from the deck to the upper garden, with low planters softening each level. Broadleaf and native planting gives the boundary height without closing in the sun.

Pool and garden

Pale stone paving frames the pool, with glass fencing keeping views open to the lawn. Tropical planting softens the boundary and brings greenery close to the water.

A planted arrival

A stone path leads to the front steps, with lawn on one side and layered planting around the exposed sandstone on the other. The greenery frames the entrance while leaving the natural rock visible.

Space to gather

An outdoor dining and lounge terrace opens onto broad stone steps and a raised lawn. Palms and layered planting frame the garden, with low stone walls connecting the different levels.
